WWE has announced a new tournament to decide the #1 contenders for an upcoming premium live event championship match.
While it won’t be taking place during WrestleMania weekend this year, NXT’s biggest annual PLE Stand & Deliver is coming up on April 4.
With the build to that show kicking off tonight off the back of Vengeance Day this past weekend, interim WWE NXT General Manager Robert Stone made an announcement tonight.
NXT Tag Team Champions Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes of Vanity Project were looking to get on the card for Stand & Deliver, with Stone announcing a tournament to determine their challengers.
Announced to be in the tournament were The Culling, Sean Legacy & Eli Knight, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Birthright, OTM and DarkState.
No exact configuration or bracket for the tournament was revealed, other than the fact that Hank & Tank vs Birthright will take place next week.
Robert Stone went on to announce in a separate interview shortly after that OTM and DarkState were actually removed from the tournament as a punishment for them brawling and causing general chaos.
