WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has opened up on a recent creative disagreement he had with CM Punk.
When CM Punk left WWE back in 2014, his clashing of heads with Triple H both on and off screen were very well known, leading to speculation about whether or not Punk would return to WWE following his departure from AEW in September 2023.
Punk would ultimately return, sharing a picture backstage with Triple H, noting that ‘hell froze over’, but since his return both Punk and Triple H have opened up on a conversation they had prior to Punk’s return.
As the relationship between the two men has changed, so to has how they handle differences in creative, and Triple H has opened up on a recent disagreement he had with Punk.
Speaking on High Performance, he said:
“We’ve had a couple of moments since his return, there was one moment where he’d return and they told him something creatively and they told me, ‘He does not like this.’ I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll talk to him.’ Went and talked to him. ‘What’s going on?’ I told him the creative and he was like, ‘That’s good, whatever.’ I was like, ‘I know you don’t like it. Everybody’s told me. Let’s be open.’ He complained about what it was and I said, ‘Let’s go sit and talk about it and come up with something good.’
“That sort of changed, it was like a paradigm shift for us relationship-wise, and now, it’s a funny thing for me to say, sitting down and being collaborative with CM Punk is one of my favorite things in TV because he shares a very similar view at the end of the day of the business as I do.”
Punk is set to main event night one of WrestleMania 41 next Saturday, when he faces both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat match.
