Edge’s Opponent For SmackDown In Toronto Revealed WWE

With Edge set to appear next week in his hometown of Toronto on WWE SmackDown, now his opponent has been revealed.

After an announcement tonight that next Friday (August 18) on WWE SmackDown would host a 25th Anniversary celebration for Edge, the Hall of Famer himself appeared.

Making an entrance with a thunderous crowd response, he revealed that he wanted to have a one on one match next week on SmackDown in his hometown of Toronto against someone he’s never had a singles match against before.

Edge told a story about how it was Sheamus who inspired him to return to wrestling after appearing with him on his Celtic Warrior Workouts YouTube channel and going mountain biking (and totally wiping out).

When he wanted to actually start working out in the ring, it was Sheamus who he called to practice with and he went so far as to stay with Edge to help him train.

Sheamus and the Brawling Brutes came out to answer Edge’s challenge with Sheamus telling an emotional story about a WWE live event he attended in Dublin in 2004.

Sheamus said that everybody ‘gave him the cold shoulder,’ except Edge, who inspired him to continue working towards his dream of joining WWE.

Ultimately, it was all very respectful and friendly as Sheamus went on to accept Edge’s challenge and next week on SmackDown, in Toronto for the first time ever in a one on one match, Sheamus will face Edge.
