Nick Aldis’s tenure as WWE SmackDown General Manager started on the October 13 season premiere with Adam Pearce heading over to Raw.
As previously reported, Triple H introduced the new SmackDown GM with Aldis being pleased to take the reins of ‘the number one sports entertainment brand in the world’.
Aldis had been a producer in WWE on a “trial basis” with a recent report suggesting that his preliminary period is now over and he has signed full-time with WWE.
He has recently spoken about how he was able to balance his independent commitments with his work in WWE.
One booking that he couldn’t keep, however, was a recent Calgary show on the night of his SmackDown debut.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer provided details of the impact that Aldis’ WWE role will have on his independent bookings, reporting:
“Our impression is that he is allowed to fulfil prior commitments as long as they aren’t on Fridays but as far as taking new dates, we don’t know the answer to that. Obviously time will tell.”
Aldis was backstage at last night’s WWE Raw and was listed as a producer for a match on the pre-Raw taping of Main Event.
