Chris Jericho has revealed that he actually contacted Brodie Lee (formerly Luke Harper) about joining AEW before the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion had even left WWE.
Speaking on his Saturday Night Special live stream this weekend, former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho revealed that he contacted Brodie back in April 2019, several months before he was released:
“I was a big fan of his from the start. The moment that he asked for his release from the WWE, about a year and a half ago, I contacted him. And of course they never gave him his release, so, he went on his merry way. And then the moment he actually did get his release, we made sure that he came to work for us. There’s a lot of pluses for him – we love him, he’s great.”
Chris Jericho clearly isn’t the only person in AEW who is high on Brodie Lee, as The Dark Order leader squashed Cody on Dynamite last week to become the second-ever TNT Champion, winning his first title outside of WWE.
Speaking of WWE stars jumping to AEW, it has been reported that Cody has emailed people within Vince McMahon’s company to ask if they’d be interested in joining AEW. You can read more about that by clicking here.
