Kairi Sane has commented on her current relationship with WWE, following recent speculation about her contract status.
In January, it was reported that Kairi is still under WWE contract, with her deal set to expire this month. Despite the former Women’s Tag Team Champion reportedly being under contract at the time, WWE didn’t utilize Kairi for last month’s women’s Royal Rumble match.
Speaking with Big Lobe, Kairi stated that her relationship with WWE has been good, even after returning to Japan. Kairi said:
“I’m just grateful that the relationship is so good, or that it’s been much better. Even after returning to Japan, I think it was unusual for me to prepare a special position.”

The Japanese star last wrestled for WWE in July 2020, defeating Bayley in singles competition. Following the bout, Kairi returned to Japan and transitioned into an ambassador role.
There were reportedly internal discussions about Kairi’s former tag partner, Asuka, returning to the ring at Royal Rumble. Asuka hasn’t wrestled since Money in the Bank in July 2021. Asuka has been recovering from a shoulder injury since, with the star sharing a photo of her arm in a brace back in August.
