Big E has provided a promising update on his recovery, after suffering a broken neck in March.
The former WWE Champion has recently shared positive updates on his condition, sharing videos of himself tossing his neck brace in the trash, and moving his neck around without the brace.
Speaking with ESPN, Big E noted that he’s ‘grateful’ that the doctors have said he will make a complete recovery. As previously noted, he is expected to be out of action for at least a full year from the date of his original injury.
The New Day member reflected on his recovery, recalling a doctor previously telling him that his injury could’ve led to a stroke, paralysis or death:
“It’s very sobering to hear that. I think to be great at something like (pro wrestling), or at least to be competent, you can’t spend all your time worrying about possibly fatal injuries or breaking your neck.
“You have to go out there and be free and in the moment. I think a lot of us as performers don’t spend a lot of time thinking about that stuff. I never thought I would be.”
Thankful for everyone who has reached out to him during his recovery, Big E said:
“Honestly, it hasn’t been a dark period. I’m so thankful for all the people who checked in on me and reached out, who have concerns. I’m not saying I’m perfect. I’m not saying every day is the greatest ever for me. But I really haven’t struggled with that type of stuff.”
Big E also recalled Ridge Holland reaching out to him following his injury, which you can read more about right here.
The popular star is set to join the WWE talent and recruitment team for the tryout slated for SummerSlam week.
