Night one of the WWE Draft kicked off on Smackdown (April 28) seeing a number of top stars such as Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Bianca Belair swap shows.
Among the movers were a number of NXT stars who were granted call-ups to the main roster.
While names such as Bron Breakker, Cameron Grimes and Zoey Stark were rumored to move it was instead the turn of NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell and NXT Women’s Tag Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn who were drafted to Raw and Smackdown respectively.
On stage to deliver the news was NXT boss Shawn Michaels who seemed perplexed to see every one of his female champions moved elsewhere.
Despite his reaction at the time Michaels would later reflect on the draft and offer his support to all three stars who got called up.
Michaels tweeted:
“What an amazing night for the #WWEDraft and the #WWENXT roster! I’m so excited for our #WWENXT superstars as they move forward and forge their own path on #WWERAW & #SmackDown
Congratulations to our champs @indi_hartwell ,@wwe_alba, and @IslaDawn!”
Following SmackDown, there has been a lot of speculation about potential main roster call-ups that could be announced when the draft continues on Monday.
Along with the aforementioned names such as Breakker and Stark, other reported stars potentially on the verge of a move are Pretty Deadly, Tyler Bate and Cora Jade.
