WWE
On Sunday, September 6, WWE will present the first ever Sunday Night’s Main Event from Atlanta, Georgia.
With this show serving as the first major event after SummerSlam 2026, there could be some interesting developments in the form of returning stars on this night.
Looking at the current injury and inactive list, there are quite a few names that could make their mark with a return at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.
Here are seven WWE stars to potentially return at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
7. Bronson Reed

Ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Bronson Reed suffered a serious torn bicep injury.
Since then, Reed has been sidelined and out of action for the past six months.
Most recently, Reed has taken to social media to reveal that he is currently training for his in-ring return and has undergone a major weight loss journey in the process.
Considering his most recent post showing him at WWE Headquarters, it makes sense if Reed is getting ready for his return, especially considering his Vision stablemate Bron Breakker is set to face Oba Femi at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
6. Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins)
On the July 6 episode of Monday Night Raw, The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Austin Theory defeated Street Profits to win the World Tag Team Championships thanks to outside interference from Maxxine Dupri.
After adding Dupri to their faction, The Vision have been more powerful than ever before.
Following their loss, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have been missing from WWE television in the past two months.
With The Vision in need of some challengers, Street Profits could make their return at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event to throw their name back in the mix for title contention.
5. Bayley

At the July 18 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Lyra Valkyria defeated Bayley.
After the win, Valkyria added insult to injury by viciously assaulting Bayley to take her out.
Since then, Valkyria has been bragging about getting rid of Bayley from WWE for good.
While it does seem like she is edging closer to her WWE exit with her contract set to expire, Bayley returning for revenge on Lyra would not surprise anyone too much.
4. AJ Lee
At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night One, Becky Lynch defeated AJ Lee to win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Shortly after the event, Lee took to social media to say farewell to WWE and the fans, finishing up this return run for the legend.
The former WWE Divas Champion is one of the biggest names on the roster today and someone who can add plenty of star power to the women’s division at this time.
Needing her to step in after recent injuries, AJ Lee might make a return at Sunday Night’s Main Event where she could find herself opposite one of the new stars on the WWE roster today.
3. Asuka

Another WWE legendary star who is currently away from the company is Asuka.
At WWE Backlash 2026, IYO SKY defeated Asuka. After the match, “The Empress of Tomorrow” embraced SKY with an emotional and tearful hug.
Then, Asuka seemingly said goodbye and passed the torch to “The Genius of the Sky” in a backstage segment before fans watched her walk out of the door.
With more than four months since her exit, Asuka could make her way back in time for WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event where she would make an immediate impact.
2. Rhea Ripley
Despite winning the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42, Rhea Ripley currently finds herself on the sidelines with a serious injury.
During her match against Jade Cargill at WWE Clash In Italy, Ripley suffered a torn meniscus that has forced her out of action and saw the company crown an interim WWE Women’s Champion in her absence.
This interim title was won by Chelsea Green at WWE SummerSlam 2026, who also suffered an injury shortly thereafter.
With Green currently injured, it would be interesting to see Rhea return now at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event and try to reclaim her title on SmackDown.
1. Drew McIntyre

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night One, Jacob Fatu defeated Drew McIntyre in an Unsanctioned Match.
Since this loss, McIntyre has not been seen on WWE TV with no signs of his return.
In his absence, “The Scottish Warrior” has been filming different movie projects and making a name for himself in Hollywood.
Considering his status as one of WWE’s top stars, McIntyre could be a key return that helps to solidify the main event picture across Raw and SmackDown following Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6.
