Over the past few years, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has made it very clear that he does not intend to keep competing inside the squared circle for much longer.

After breaking his body down to create one of the most celebrated and decorated careers of his generation, Omega is winding down his in-ring career and doing it in grand fashion as the current AEW World Champion.

It will be an important decision for AEW and ‘The Cleaner’ himself to decide who will be his final opponent when he finally retires.

Here are ten potential Kenny Omega AEW retirement opponents.

10. Will Ospreay

Back in 2023, Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay stepped inside the ring after years of insults and disrespect towards one another in what became one of the best Tokyo Dome matches ever at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17.

After Omega won that first clash, Ospreay got revenge when he beat ‘The Best Bout Machine’ at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door later that same year.

Following these battles, Ospreay and Omega gained respect for one another and even became friends, but that will all come to a head when they clash for the AEW World Title at All In London 2026 on August 30.

Ospreay being Omega’s AEW retirement opponent would be the perfect culmination to what has been one of the defining pro wrestling rivalries of the 2020s.

9. MJF

 

Speaking of rivalries, there has been no one who has been a more consistent thorn in the side of Kenny Omega than MJF.

At AEW Dynasty 2026, MJF defeated Omega to retain the AEW World Championship. However, Omega got his revenge when he beat MJF to win the title on the July 8 Beach Break special edition of Dynamite.

Looking for the rubber match this year, MJF could return and look to put this feud to bed once and for all.

MJF retiring Omega would be a great way to give ‘The Devil’ yet another accolade that can further strengthen his legacy as the biggest star in AEW.

8. Kyle Fletcher

To prove himself as a top contender for the AEW World Title, Kyle Fletcher took out Kenny Omega with a deadly Sheer Drop Brainbuster off the apron through a table back in September 2025.

Despite coming back several weeks later, Omega never confronted and seeked vengeance on ‘The Protostar.’

Now that he is the AEW World Champion, ‘The Cleaner’ might find himself across the ring from Fletcher again.

Considering his status as one of the fastest rising stars on the AEW roster, it would make sense if Fletcher gets the honor of retiring Omega to further cement him as a main eventer moving forward.

7. Swerve Strickland

At the start of 2026, Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland got in each other’s way in their quest to become AEW World Champion.

This led to Strickland defeating Omega in their first meeting and then turning heel with a vicious post match attack with a steel chain.

However, Omega got his revenge when he returned to defeat Swerve to become number one contender for the AEW World Title.

Now at a 1-1 record against one another, Swerve could get the ultimate victory by not only beating Omega but also retiring him once and for all.

6. Jon Moxley

When Jon Moxley made his AEW debut at Double Or Nothing 2019, he immediately attacked and laid out Kenny Omega.

This set in motion a rivalry between Omega and Moxley that has spanned the entire lifetime of All Elite Wrestling.

Whether it is over the AEW World Title, in multi-man action or inside a Steel Cage, Mox and Omega have one of the most storied feuds in AEW history.

Whenever he decides to hang up the boots, there might not be a better choice who knows Omega more to face him in his retirement match than Jon Moxley.

5. Chris Jericho

Back at AEW Double Or Nothing 2019, Chris Jericho defeated Kenny Omega to advance to the inaugural AEW World Title Match.

The rivalry between Jericho and Omega dates back to their first encounter in New Japan Pro Wrestling at the Wrestle Kingdom 12 event in 2018.

Despite their lengthy rivalry and even subsequent partnership, Omega and Jericho have not faced each other in an AEW ring since that second match against one another.

Considering their legacy as two of the greatest AEW World Champions of all time, Jericho being the one to face Omega in his retirement match would be a fitting one thanks to their importance in the creation of the entire company.

4. Darby Allin

All Elite Wrestling has given pro wrestling fans some of the biggest and best dream matches in recent memory.

There are not a ton of fresh, new matches that AEW might be able to offer with their current roster. However, there might not be any more enticing than Kenny Omega vs Darby Allin.

Since the start of AEW, Allin and Omega have been two of the most popular and beloved stars in the company.

After being members of the roster together for seven years, Darby finally facing Omega would feel massive for his retirement match and leave some mystery as to who will win in the end as well.

3. ‘Hangman’ Adam Page

While they were both members of Bullet Club for years in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Kenny Omega and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page really formed their bond with one another during their time with AEW.

Being forced to become teammates, Omega and Page would become the second ever AEW World Tag Team Champions and delivered one of the most impressive reigns in the history of the titles.

After losing the gold, Page went on to finally win the big one by defeating Omega to win the AEW World Title at Full Gear 2021. In the years since this last meeting, ‘Hangman’ and Omega have reunited in The Elite and seem even closer as friends.

Wanting to end things against someone he respects, Omega could choose “Hangman” as his retirement opponent and knows they can deliver something special to close out his legendary career.

2. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

 

There is no doubt that two of Kenny Omega’s best friends in the pro wrestling business are The Young Bucks.

Matt and Nick Jackson have been by Omega’s side through thick and thin, whether it be his AEW World Title reign or his bouts with diverticulitis.

While they are closer than some brothers, Omega has delivered some of the best matches of his career against The Young Bucks, including his clash against Matt and Nick alongside ‘Hangman’ Adam Page at Revolution 2020.

Whether it be with ‘Hangman’ again, his Golden Lovers partner Kota Ibushi or someone like ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, Omega ending things against his longtime Elite stablemates The Young Bucks seems like the right way to retire a legend.

1. Kazuchika Okada

Looking back at the formation of All Elite Wrestling, there might not be any more important feud to what the company would become than Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada.

Over the course of four instant classics, Omega and Okada changed the wrestling business and left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

The company revisited this rivalry when Okada defeated Omega to become the first ever AEW Unified Champion at All In Texas 2025.

With their record all tied up across their career matches, ‘The Cleaner’ could conclude his most defining feud against ‘The Rainmaker’ when everything is all said and done.
