On May 2, the wrestling world was left shocked by the news that The New Day had chosen to mutually part ways with WWE.

After a 12 year run together in the company, many fans feel like Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods will now make their way to All Elite Wrestling.

Considering the overwhelming support and endorsement from notable members of the AEW roster, The New Day will have plenty of options if they decide to sign with the promotion and make their debut sometime down the line.

Here are seven potential New Day AEW debut plans.

7. Joining forces with Willow Nightingale

The New Day have been an inspiration to several stars in the world of pro wrestling today.

One such talent who has given Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods their flowers for helping to pave a way for her career is Willow Nightingale.

Mentioning The New Day making positive black wrestlers popular in the business, Nightingale credited them for inspiring her rise up the ranks and where she is today in AEW.

If Kingston and Woods make their way to All Elite Wrestling, it would be fitting to see The New Day join forces with the reigning TBS Champion in a new faction.

6. Rekindling rivalry with The Hurt Syndicate

During their time together in WWE, The New Day and Hurt Business were embroiled in a rivalry that spanned several months.

After both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods came up short against Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship, it was Big E, who cashed in the Money In The Bank to win the top prize in the company back in 2021.

Now five years later, The New Day might sign with All Elite Wrestling where Lashley, MVP and Shelton Benjamin have been running roughshod over the company for the past two years.

The New Day coming to AEW to step up to The Hurt Syndicate would be a great way to remind fans of their history with another and bring it to a whole new promotion.

5. Facing The Rascalz

Another group of AEW stars who have been inspired by The New Day is The Rascalz.

Immediately upon finding out about their WWE departure, Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz took to social media to tease a dream match with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

Feeling like a trio of stars who have made quite the impression since signing with AEW in January, The Rascalz have been regular parts of the roster and would be an appropriate welcoming committee for the multi-time WWE Tag Team Champions.

In what would be an exciting way to introduce the duo to AEW, The New Day clashing with The Rascalz would put a spotlight on both of these pairings in a major way.

4. Dream Match with Cope & Cage

While WWE has taken a great deal of focus off of their tag team scene over the past year, AEW has elevated their tag team division substantially since 2025.

A big part of that has been the reunion that took place with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

After feuding with one another since the former Edge’s AEW debut, Copeland and Cage have come together to become one of the top contenders for tag team gold.

Cope and Cage squaring off with The New Day would be a dream match that would capture the imagination of the AEW fanbase and could make for a tantalizing showstealer on pay-per-view.

3. Challenging FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships

FTR are currently enjoying their third reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions.

During their time in WWE, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler were no strangers from facing off with The New Day over tag team gold.

Immediately following the news of their WWE exit, Wheeler took to social media and showed his support towards The New Day.

If Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods decide to make the move to All Elite Wrestling, The New Day have the legacy and credentials to immediately challenge FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Titles right from their arrival.

2. Feuding with The Young Bucks

Over the past 10 years, there have been tweets from both teams and teases of a showdown between The New Day and The Young Bucks.

With the famous post saying “one day we’ll wrestle The New Day and everyone will rejoice,” The Young Bucks have long wanted to step inside the squared circle with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

Widely regarded as two of the greatest tag teams of the modern era, pitting The Bucks and New Day in the ring together should be a top priority if they sign with All Elite Wrestling.

Considering Matt and Nick Jackson have discussed this being their final run in pro wrestling, it makes a match with The New Day almost a necessity now that the legendary duo are available to sign with AEW.

1. Teaming with Swerve Strickland to finally destroy The Elite once and for all

While everyone will want to see a tag team match, there are other possibilities from a New Day vs. Young Bucks rivalry.

It is no secret that Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods are close friends and have had a friendly rivalry in the gaming community for years.

Back in 2018, The New Day and The Elite battled in a video game competition at the E3 convention that is fondly remembered by the fans.

Now all these years later, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could be brought in by Swerve Strickland to form a trio that might be hellbent on destroying The Elite to end the careers of Omega and The Bucks once and for all.
