WWE
On the July 28 episode of WWE NXT, Grayson Waller made a surprise return to open the show and cut a scathing promo on the entire men’s locker room on the brand.
After disparaging the entire male roster, Waller should have plenty of different directions to go down moving forward.
Here are seven new potential Grayson Waller plans after WWE NXT shoot promo.
7. Feud With Cruz Montana
On the July 21 edition of WWE NXT, Mike Santana officially made his debut on the brand as the newest member of the roster.
The former TNA World Champion would later reveal that his new name in WWE is Cruz Montana.
This led to Grayson Waller coming out on the July 28 episode of WWE NXT to cut a shoot promo where he called out Montana as being a wannabe and someone who was a big fish in a small pond in TNA Wrestling.
Montana feuding with Waller feels like the logical next move and could become one of the most prominent rivalries on WWE NXT moving forward.
6. New Rivalry With Mason Rook

Mason Rook first showed up on WWE NXT during the April 28 episode of NXT
Ever since he arrived in WWE, Mason Rook has been turning heads with his combination of size, strength and athleticism.
Rook wasted no time in garnering attention by going after the top talent on the WWE NXT brand.
During his shoot promo on the July 28 WWE NXT, Waller called out Rook for not looking the part of a WWE star.
With Rook being one of the talents who expressed his frustration with Waller’s comments, it feels like this would be a smart direction to go with the Aussie now that he is back on NXT.
5. Starting His Own Faction Of Disgruntled WWE Stars
Grayson Waller aired his grievances with how he has been treated and used since splitting from Austin Theory in 2025.
Now that he stands on his own and back on NXT, Waller might find that he is not the only name on the roster that feels the way he does.
Wanting to galvanize different stars on the roster, Waller could become a leader of his own faction.
Waller guiding the frustrated WWE stars to take over NXT would make for a highly compelling storyline that could be enough to firmly cement him as a top star on the brand once again.
4. Attacking NXT Senior Vice President Shawn Michaels
During his first stint on the WWE NXT brand, Grayson Waller was someone who had plenty of issues with WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Shawn Michaels.
Upon returning to NXT, Waller showed his disdain for Michaels by calling him out for wanting him to leave and not being able to control him.
This was not the first time that Waller has drawn the ire of ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ and it doesn’t seem like the last either considering his recent comments.
Waller attacking Michaels would be a huge statement that no one knows what he will do and no one can control him now that he has returned to WWE NXT.
3. Joining Forces With The Vanity Project

The Vanity Project’s Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes signed with WWE NXT in January 2026, with Myka Lockwood joining the group in May.
Looking at the entire WWE NXT roster, there are a few stars that Grayson Waller would fit very well with.
Out of all of the talent on the brand, The Vanity Project feel like the group that would relate the best to Waller.
Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes and Myka Lockwood have been one of the strongest and most formidable factions in all of WWE today.
Seeing their impact on the brand in recent months, Waller could see The Vanity Project as people he can relate to and would bond with as a new alliance.
2. Beat Myles Borne To Win NXT North American Championship

Myles Borne began his first reign as NXT North American Champion back in February
Myles Borne captured the NXT North American Championship from Ethan Page back in February 2026.
Since winning the gold, Borne has not backed down from any challenges, including Johnny Gargano, Tavion Heights and Kam Hendrix.
Grayson Waller returning to WWE NXT could open the door for the Aussie to finally win his first singles title in the company.
Beating Borne for the NXT North American Championship, Waller would immediately put himself right at the forefront of the brand for the foreseeable future.
1. Challenge Tony D’Angelo For NXT Championship

Tony D’Angelo’s Street Fight win over Naraku on the July 21 episode of NXT was his fourth televised title defense.
Another target of Grayson Waller during his scathing NXT shoot promo was the current NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo.
The two men know each other very well from Waller’s initial stint on the NXT brand where they were both positioned as top prospects upon arriving.
Now that he is back in the mix, Waller might want to kickstart a rivalry with D’Angelo for the top prize on the NXT brand.
Waller challenging Tony D would make for an intriguing title bout that could be the current champion’s last of this reign.
