WWE
There have been some rumors as of late in regards to former WWE stars making their comeback to the company.
WWE has been active in bringing in talent as of late, whether it be for the main roster or the NXT brand.
Looking at the current free agency market or those who will become available, there are quite a few names that have made their mark in WWE and could come back into the fold soon.
Here are eight former WWE stars to potentially re-sign with the company.
8. Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin is a former WWE United States Champion, Money in the Bank winner, and NXT Tag Team Champion with Bron Breakker
The most prominent name that has been discussed and reported as potentially re-signing with WWE is Baron Corbin.
After 12 years with the promotion, Corbin was subsequently let go with his contract coming to an end in November 2024.
Since then, Corbin has reinvented himself as Bishop Dyer and made a name for himself across several different promotions with his most notable presence being in Major League Wrestling and CMLL.
Considering recent rumors that Danhausen’s resurrection tease on the May 15 SmackDown could be for Corbin, fans could see him make his way back to the company in the near future.
7. Donovan Dijak

Donovan Dijak introduced to the WWE main roster as RETRIBUTION member T-BAR
Another WWE star who hit the ground running outside of the company upon leaving was Donovan Dijak.
After becoming one of the most reliable in-ring performers in NXT, it looked like Dijak was making his way to the WWE main roster.
However, Dijak would subsequently announce his departure from the company in 2024. Following this move, Dijak has become a mainstay on the independent scene and most notably in Major League Wrestling.
With Dijak being a current MLW World Tag Team Champion alongside Bishop Dyer, WWE could bring in both former stars back where they can be a force to be reckoned with as a duo.
6. Carmella

Carmella won the first ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in 2017
During her time in WWE, Carmella was always a prominently featured female star in the women’s division.
Over the course of a 12-year run with the promotion, Mella is a former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion and Money In The Bank winner.
In February 2025, it was revealed that Carmella was leaving WWE after her contract had expired.
Now that she is a free agent, WWE could potentially bring her back into the mix where Mella would be someone with a lot of experience to help guide the next wave of talent in the company.
5. Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy)

Bo Dallas was previously released by WWE in April 2021 before returning with Bray Wyatt in 2022
On April 24, WWE announced its latest round of talent cuts with over 30 wrestlers being released from their contracts.
One of the most noteworthy acts that were let go during these mass releases was The Wyatt Sicks.
Led by Bray Wyatt’s brother Bo Dallas, The Wyatt Sicks had established themselves as one of the most consistently featured factions.
While it might be impossible for the company to bring back every member of the stable, Dallas feels like someone that WWE might reconsider and bring back to further pay tribute to the spirit of his late brother.
4. Elayna Black (Cora Jade)

Cora Jade/Elayna Black is a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion with Roxanne Perez
At the start of 2026, Elayna Black signed with TNA Wrestling after being released from WWE in May 2025.
Becoming one of the latest acquisitions for the Knockouts division, it became clear that Black was going to be a focus for TNA.
At just 25 years old, Black’s WWE release surprised plenty of fans and critics with the company not really scratching the surface of what she could offer due to an unfortunate string of injuries.
After proving herself to be healthy and staying that way in TNA, WWE could reconsider its decision and bring Black back to resume her role as Cora Jade, while finally getting called up to the main roster to make a name for herself on Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown.
3. Dakota Kai

Dakota Kai recently returned to the ring outside WWE under the name Charlie
Another surprising name included in the mass releases from May 2025 was definitely Dakota Kai.
After an eight year stint with WWE (including being released briefly in April 2022 before returning at SummerSlam a few months later), Kai had showcased herself to be a dependable in-ring performer and someone who could be counted on in any situation.
Recently, Kai has returned to the squared circle after nearly a year on the sidelines and put on some quality performances against top names in wrestling, such as Kris Statlander and Shotzi Blackheart.
Kai returning to WWE might be the perfect way to reignite her career in a massive way and potentially have a stronger presence in the company moving forward.
2. Killer Kross & Scarlett

Killer Kross currently holds four World Championships – in MLW, WSW, RPW and ACW
In 2025, there was an argument that Karrion Kross had become one of the most popular names on the WWE roster.
With “We Want Kross” being chanted in arenas all over the world, the two-time NXT Champion had emerged as a breakout talent in the company.
However, Kross and his wife Scarlett would go on to announce their departure from the company following their WWE contracts expiring and negotiations falling apart.
After reasserting themselves on the independent scene again with championship wins across multiple promotions, there is no denying Kross and Scarlett’s star power and ability to get over no matter the circumstances, which should lead to their WWE return sooner rather than later.
1. Kairi Sane

Kairi Sane is a former NXT Women’s Champion and three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Asuka
The most surprising release from WWE’s recent slate of mass talent cuts had to have been Kairi Sane.
In the midst of a storyline with Asuka in the Kabuki Warriors, it seemed like the company was building to Sane standing up to her senpai after being emotionally and physically abused for a year.
However, Sane’s release prevented the two performers from being able to finish the story they told on WWE TV.
Considering the nature of her exit from the company, it would only be right if WWE decided to bring Kairi back for a third stint and allow her to complete what she started with Asuka sometime soon.
