AEW star Will Ospreay has praised NJPW regular Robbie X, declaring him “the best jr heavyweight for the last 4 years.”

Robbie X is currently competing in the Best of the Super Jr. tournament in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, sitting on four points in Block A.

His June 20 match saw a victory over Kosei Fujita at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, with Will Ospreay praising the star in a post shared on Twitter that reads:

“Robbie X legitimately has been the best jr heavyweight for the last 4 years.

“Seeing him get his flowers and rocking korakuen hall is a different level of special to see!!”

When it comes to credentials in that category, Ospreay is no stranger to the tournament, having won the Best of the Super Juniors in 2016 and 2019

A three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion among many titles, Ospreay made his return to NJPW earlier this year, with his most recent match reuniting him with his United Empire teammates Great-O-Khan & HENARE, in a victory over Bishamontin (Hirooki Goto, Oleg Boltin & YOSHI-HASHI) to claim the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championship.

The X Stands For Xtreme

Robbie X has been a mainstay of the British wrestling scene since 2007, amassing a 19-year career starting at the age of just 11.

Well known across the United Kingdom, Robbie X has held multiple championships across the independent wrestling scene, and has stepped into the ring with Will Ospreay on multiple occasions.

There may only be a couple of years age difference between Ospreay and Robbie X, yet they carry a lot of the same in-ring DNA, with extreme demonstrations of athleticism being a mainstay of their matches, alongside an increasingly heavy-hitting style when the need arises. Robbie X has truly shone during his time in NJPW, no mean feat for a star who is no stranger to high-caliber performances.

First debuting at the 2022 NJPW Royal Quest II in London, England, Robbie X would become a fixture in late 2024, heading to Japan for the Super Junior Tag Team Tournament and finding a new generation of fans that year.

His reach would extend beyond Japan, with Robbie X also having headed to Mexico for CMLL, a seeming natural fit for his particular style of wrestling, and no doubt adding more arsenal to the war chest of the talented star.

A member of Bullet Club War Dogs, Robbie X would continue his association through Unbound Co., carrying on a theme of in-ring success in NJPW, which included a run as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with Taiji Ishimori.

AEW fans may already be familiar with Robbie X’s work, with the star having teamed with Drilla Moloney & Clark Connors as Bullet Club War Dogs took on The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) during the AEW & NJPW Forbidden Door Zero Hour pre-show last August.
