The feud between both WWE stars known as El Grande Americano will come to a head on May 30 at AAA Noche De Los Grandes.
Earlier this month, El Grande Americano showed his disdain toward ‘The Original’ iteration of the star, with the pair brawling and a mask vs mask match challenge being laid out.
The Undertaker, who serves on the production side of AAA, has now confirmed that the match will take place at Arena Monterrey on May 30, tweeting:
“Circle the date on your calendars!
“Mask vs. Mask will take place at #AAANocheDeLosGrandes on May 30th at Arena Monterrey. This will be intense!”
Previously, the bitter feud between both men saw The Original El Grande Americano very nearly rip the mask off his future opponent’s head.
Two Men, One Character, All Round Success
El Grande Americano is, arguably, the sort of character that should not have worked. Initially, with Chad Gable under the mask, it could have been a fun distraction while other plans for the star were put into place, but an injury would see a premature end to the story.
Enter onto the scene, Ludwig Kaiser, the former member of Imperium, now on his own path without GUNTHER, adopting the El Grande Americano mask and demonstrating humor and purpose at the new El Grande Americano.
Taking the character to AAA in Mexico was a bold move for WWE, with the potential for fans to completely reject the faux-Mexican star and all he entails, but Kaiser made it work. Speaking Spanish in promos, showing respect to luchador traditions, and very much winning over that fanbase in the same way he had in the United States.
The sheer fun of the character would continue with the addition of Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne as Bravo and Rayo, respectively, with the pair showing their lighter side on the Los Americanos Instagram account, showing off a combination of dance moves and a surprising turn with the Spanish language over recent weeks.
With one El Grande Americano set to lose their mask at AAA Noche De Los Grandes next month, what the future holds for either Kaiser or Gable in WWE remains to be seen, but this has been a character that should be well remembered by fans for years to come.
