WWE Hall Of Famer Recalls Misadventure When Travelling With Randy Orton WWE

Randy Orton has done a lot in his 20+ year career on the WWE main roster, with him debuting as a young upstart back in 2002.

Orton made friends with some of the all time greats in the industry, which included WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.

Speaking about he and Orton’s match at Vengeance 2006 on the Kurt Angle Show, Kurt detailed the origins of his friendship with Orton.

He said:

“Well, Randy and I, we started being really good friends right when he started. See, [Jim Ross] and Vince [McMahon] came to me and said, ‘Listen, we have a kid, a little rough around the edges. We want you to travel with him.’ I’m like ‘Who?’

Kurt recalled finding out that Orton was the son of Bob Orton, and agreeing to travel with him, admitting that he didn’t fulfill all the duties, but recalled a misadventure the two had on the road.

He said:

“One day, I went the opposite way than I was supposed to for about an hour on the highway. Randy’s like, ‘Oh my God, we’re going to be late.’ I turned around and go the other way.”

Kurt recalled Orton’s reaction, fearing that he would end up getting fired, before explaining what happened when they eventually arrived:

“We finally get there, and we’re an hour late. So, we’re locked out of the arena. He busting on the window, trying to pound on it. Then, he kicks it and kicks the window open. The window and the door shatter. He goes in there and wrestles.”
