Popular Star Discussed For WWE Main Roster Call-Up WWE

A backstage update has emerged on creative talks about a popular NXT star receiving a WWE main roster call-up.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been ‘at least talk’ of former NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate moving to either Raw or SmackDown.

Optimistic about Bate’s future under the Triple H regime, Meltzer wrote:

There has at least been talk of Bate going to the main roster.

His size isn’t particularly right for that but the size thing isn’t as big a deal now with Vince McMahon out of the picture and Paul Levesque being more open minded as to who can be a top star.

Tyler Bate made his WWE debut in early 2017, winning the United Kingdom Championship Tournament, and the WWE (NXT) UK Championship at the age of 19.

Bate made a lot of history on the NXT UK brand, becoming the brand’s only triple crown champion after holding the NXT UK, NXT UK Tag Team and NXT Heritage Cup titles.

The British star was also the only talent to hold the NXT UK Championship twice, with Bate recognised as both the first and last ever NXT UK Champion.

The NXT and NXT UK titles were unified at NXT Worlds Collide 2022, with Bron Breakker ultimately defeating Tyler Bate to become the undisputed champion.

Bate’s former WWE rival, and former teammate Butch (Pete Dunne) currently wrestles as part of the SmackDown brand, where it seems his tag team with Ridge Holland has come to an end.

Bate and Butch notably faced off on NXT TV in September, and teamed up in October, with Bate named an honorary Brawling Brute.
