Tony Khan has spoken about a tweet he made about WWE President Nick Khan, after being confused for the similarly-named wrestling executive.
On October 3, Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports tweeted a comment about Tony Khan getting the show Barstool Van Talk cancelled, when it was actually Nick Khan.
After being corrected, Portnoy apologised to the AEW owner and called Nick Khan a “snake.”
Tony appeared to take the mistake in good humor, and said that he could not be more different from the WWE executive.
2 more different people we could not be.
Here’s to not being two-faced + here’s to a big week of @AEWonTV, the #AEWDynamite 3 year anniversary Wednesday on TBS, our first XL 2 hour,15 minute episode ever!

Speaking with Ariel Helwani, Tony Khan reflected on the incident. When during the interview Helwani asked why Tony Khan had implied Nick was “two-faced,” Tony clarified:
“I didn’t say, Dave said that. I said, ‘Dave, we’re two completely different people. Then I promoted my show. Two more different people we could not be, here’s to not being two-faced because I’m not the guy you’re talking about.
“We’re totally different people. I love the nuts and bolts of the wrestling business, and I’ve never claimed to be the power player/agent person, although I am a partner in a talent management company, so in some ways, that is part of what I do.
“But we do two completely different things. There’s definitely some intersections of the things we do, but I think we do them in very different ways. We’re two completely different people.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Khan compared WWE and AEW free agent profiles. For more about that, click here.
