WWE
While WWE Backlash 2026 is taking shape with the card, there could be some key moments that alter characters throughout the next premium live event.
Several stars on the roster have been teasing a potential babyface turn that could see some heels in the company seeing the light.
Whether it be through going against stablemates or embracing the cheers from the fans, these heels could undergo a major change that will shape how the audience views them moving forward.
Here are six potential babyface turns at WWE Backlash 2026.
6. El Grande Americano
Over in Lucha Libre AAA, El Grande Americano has become the most popular star featured in the promotion.
Embracing Mexican culture, Americano has become a national hero that has the fans rally behind him every week on AAA on FOX.
However, the dynamic between El Grande and The Original El Grande is quite different when it comes to WWE.
Wanting the alignment to match up in WWE and AAA, the company could turn El Grande babyface and the Original El Grande heel at Backlash 2026 ahead of their Mask vs. Mask showdown at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30.
5. Tama Tonga

Tama Tonga has been having conversations backstage with Shinsuke Nakamura in regards to his status with the MFTs in recent weeks
Over the past few months, fans have seen Tama Tonga has started to make a name for himself as a singles star.
Picking up wins against Shinsuke Nakamura and Ilja Dragunov, Tonga has shown that he doesn’t necessarily need his stablemates in The MFTs to get the job done.
This has led to some tension building between Tama and The MFTs leader Solo Sikoa over how to run this stable.
With JC Mateo and Tonga Loa now gone from the company, Tama turning babyface and finally breaking free from The MFTs feels appropriate and could make for a memorable moment in his career at WWE Backlash 2026.
4. Lash Legend
At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night One, Paige and Brie Bella defeated The Irresistible Forces, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss and Bayley and Lyra Valkyria to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
After losing the titles, Lash Legend and Nia Jax were not seen on the WWE SmackDown After Mania.
Since forming their partnership in November 2025, Legend and Jax have been loyal to one another, but this loss at “The Showcase of the Immortals” could see some cracks form in The Irresistible Forces.
Considering her fiance Trick Williams recently turning babyface, Lash could follow his lead and turn babyface by ending her pairing with Jax at the upcoming WWE Backlash 2026 premium live event.
3. Giulia

Giulia won her second Women’s United States Title on January 2, 2026 episode of SmackDown
On the April 24 WWE SmackDown After WrestleMania 42, Tiffany Stratton defeated Giulia to win the WWE Women’s United States Championship.
Prior to this loss, “The Beautiful Madness” showcased her frustration with her representative Kiana James for not getting her onto the Mania card.
Now that she has lost the gold, this may bring even more dissension between Giulia and James further.
WWE Backlash 2026 could see Giulia turning babyface by stepping away from Kiana, realizing that she doesn’t need anyone’s help to get the job done in the company moving forward.
2. Austin Theory
When Austin Theory made his return and joined The Vision, many fans believed he could be trying to infiltrate the group to help his former mentor Seth Rollins.
Back in October 2025, The Vision’s Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman turned on Rollins after he suffered a serious shoulder injury.
Seeing how easily they turned on their leader, Theory might realize that he could be next if things go wrong with his current partnership with Logan Paul.
After potentially losing the World Tag Team Titles to The Street Profits, Theory could turn on Paul and The Vision before they turn on him and join forces with Rollins to take down the faction once and for all.
1. Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez left WWE NXT with two NXT Women’s Championship reigns under her belt
On the March 9 edition of Monday Night Raw, The Judgment Day betrayed Finn Balor and turned against him in favor of Dominik Mysterio.
This decision was made in the midst of the absence of Roxanne Perez, who was brought into the stable by Balor in 2025.
Since WrestleMania 42, fans have noticed some underlined tension between Perez and Liv Morgan thanks to the departure of Finn Balor as well as fear that she could be next on the chopping block.
Aligning herself with Balor against The Judgment Day, Roxanne could find herself turning babyface to be next in line to get a shot at Liv’s WWE Women’s World Championship at Backlash 2026.
