AEW Forbidden Door 2026 is just a few short weeks away on Sunday, June 28 and the card is already taking shape.

The Owen Hart Foundation Men’s and Women’s Tournament Finals will take place in San Jose, but these are the only bouts currently scheduled at the time of writing.

With this event featuring talent from NJPW, STARDOM and CMLL, there is a lot more that could be announced in the coming weeks for this huge event from San Jose, California.

Here are nine potential matches to be added to AEW Forbidden Door 2026.

AEW International Championship Two Out Of Three Falls Match: Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada

At AEW Double Or Nothing 2026, Konosuke Takeshita defeated Kazuchika Okada to win the AEW International Championship.

This marked Takeshita’s first win over Okada and his second reign as the International Champion.

Considering that “The Rainmaker” is looking to get another opportunity to win his title back, this could lead to a highly anticipated rematch for the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view.

To determine who is the better man between these two, Takeshita and Okada might need a special stipulation where the winner has to beat their opponent twice in one night, leading to a two-out-of-three-falls match for the gold in San Jose.

AEW World Trios Championships: The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) (c) vs. El Sky Team (Mistico, Mascara Dorada & Neon)

More gold should be on the line at this major event and should be defended against stars from other promotions.

At AEW Dynasty 2026, The Conglomeration defeated The Dogs to win the AEW World Trios Championships.

Looking at a promotion like CMLL, El Sky Team are the premier unit in the entire company and are the current CMLL World Trios Champions.

Having a champions vs. champions battle for the AEW World Trios Titles would be intriguing and make for an unpredictable championship bout for AEW Forbidden Door 2026.

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships: Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne & Lena Kross) (c) vs. FWC (Hazuki & Koguma)

Since capturing the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships at Revolution, Divine Dominion have been wrecking shop and destroying any duo in front of them.

STARDOM will be playing a significant role on the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view and should be positioned as top contenders for gold.

Looking at the tag teams on the roster, FWC have become recognized as one of the best tandems regardless of gender in the world today.

After Hazuki made her presence felt in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, FWC could step up to the plate to challenge Megan Bayne and Lena Kross for the titles at Forbidden Door on June 28.

AEW World Tag Team Championships: Adam Copeland & Christian Cage (c) vs. The Dogs (David Finlay & Clark Connors)

At the AEW Double Or Nothing 2026 event, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defeated FTR in an I Quit Match to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

Then on the May 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cope and Cage attempted to have their first five-second pose in 25 years, but it was interrupted by The Dogs, who laid out the champions using the shilleagh.

Over the past few weeks, The Dogs have made it clear that their eyes are set on the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

With a number one contenders match scheduled with The Young Bucks on the AEW Collision: Summer Blockbuster event, fans could see The Dogs challenging Cage and Cope for the gold at Forbidden Door this year.

IWGP Tag Team Championships: The Knockout Brothers (Yuto-Ice & OSKARA) (c) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

Speaking of The Young Bucks, it doesn’t matter whether they win or lose against The Dogs, they should be part of the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 card.

Throughout 2026, Matt and Nick Jackson have been part of the best matches at most AEW pay-per-views this year so far.

Considering New Japan Pro Wrestling will be collaborating for this show, The Knockout Brothers feel like a no-brainer inclusion for the card.

Yuto-Ice and OSKAR defending the IWGP Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks would make for a compelling dream match that fits what Forbidden Door is all about.

CMLL World Women’s Championship: Persephone (c) vs. Julia Hart

On the April 25 Playoff Palooza special of AEW Collision, Triangle of Madness defeated Persephone and Alex Windsor.

This win came as a result of Julia Hart getting involved by spitting the poison mist in Persephone’s eyes for her stablemates.

Since this mist, Persephone had been sidelined until she competed in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. With the eye injury clearly bothering her, the CMLL star lost to Hazuki in the Quarterfinal match on the June 6 AEW Collision.

After calling out the Triangle of Madness, Persephone could defend the CMLL World Women’s Championship against Julia Hart on the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view on Sunday, June 28.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid

On the June 3 edition of AEW Dynamite, Thekla issued a challenge and declared death to STARDOM ahead of Forbidden Door 2026.

“The Toxic Spider” has expressed her displeasure with STARDOM’s presence for the upcoming pay-per-view, holding resentment from being fired from the Japanese promotion.

This should lead to one of STARDOM’s talents showing up in San Jose to challenge Thekla for the AEW Women’s World Championship.

Starlight Kid is someone who is no stranger to championship gold and would offer a difficult opposition for Thekla for the title come San Jose.

IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Yota Tsuji (c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli

On Sunday, June 14, Callum Newman will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Yota Tsuji in the main event.

While Newman has been a confident champion since claiming the gold in April, it feels like the stage is set for Tsuji to regain the gold in Osaka.

That could lead to “The Gene Blast” defending his title for the first time in his second reign against one of AEW’s stars, which could come in the form of a member of The Death Riders.

Claudio Castagnoli stepping up to the plate would be a fascinating matchup with Tsuji that might just steal the show at AEW Forbidden Door 2026.

AEW World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Andrade El Idolo vs. Mark Briscoe

At AEW Double Or Nothing 2026, MJF defeated Darby Allin to win the AEW World Championship.

After becoming a three-time AEW World Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has had no time to waste as challengers have been coming out of the woodwork to throw their name in the hat for a shot at his title.

Mark Briscoe has a claim to a title opportunity after defeating MJF in a Tables N Tacks Match at AEW All Out 2025, while Andrade El Idolo has been on a roll since returning to All Elite Wrestling and has yet to get his shot at the top prize in the promotion.

This could set up a huge three-way bout where MJF will defend the title against both Briscoe and Andrade in the main event of AEW Forbidden Door 2026.
