WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Preview: Start Time, How To Watch, Match Card, Predictions

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka – Raw Women’s Championship

One of the best matches from last year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view saw Asuka defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch.

At this year’s show, Becky will defend her Raw Women’s Championship as against ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ in what promises to be another cracking match.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

While I expect this match to be a back-and-forth encounter, I do expect Becky Lynch to pick up the win and move onto WrestleMania as champion.

A likely feud for Becky Lynch at WrestleMania is with the winner of the women’s Royal Rumble match (we’ll come back to that later).

The Fiend (c) vs. Daniel Bryan – Strap Match – Universal Championship

The entertaining and captivating feud between The Fiend and Daniel Bryan over the Universal Championship is set to continue and likely culminate at the Royal Rumble in a strap match.

Prediction: The Fiend

With The Fiend standing tall at the end of SmackDown on Friday night, logic would dictate that Daniel Bryan is winning at the Royal Rumble. However, I see The Fiend picking up the win here.

I am actually quite excited for the strap match. I feel that the added stipulation could give this match a different feel to the frankly lacklustre matches we have seen from The Fiend thus far.

Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin – Falls Count Anywhere

The fantastic (clear sarcasm) feud between King Corbin and Roman Reigns will continue with a match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Sunday.

The pair had a singles match at TLC which King Corbin won, but this match will be a Falls Count Anywhere match. The stipulation was added by Reigns after he defeated Robert Roode on the 01/17 episode of SmackDown.

Prediction: King Corbin

I have chosen King Corbin for this match for two reasons. Firstly, I don’t think this match is going to signal the end of the Corbin and Reigns feud. I could see the duo going head-to-head again at Elimination Chamber or WWE’s Saudi Arabia show.

Secondly, I think Roman Reigns is going to win the men’s Royal Rumble match (spoilers), so I think WWE is going to have Corbin win this hard-hitting back-and-forth encounter, making Reigns’ eventual Royal Rumble win look more impressive.

However, this is a very hard match to predict, so it really could go either way.
