7 Things We Learned At WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night Two

The WWE SummerSlam 2026 event is now in the books with night two having taken place tonight in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

There’s plenty of news coming out of the show with new champions being crowned and a big return from a career threatening injury as well – so plenty of positives, but no absence of negatives either.

Here are the seven big takeaways from WWE SummerSlam 2026 night two.

7. Trick Williams Is Moving Onto Bigger Things

One of three new champions crowned at SummerSlam was Baron Corbin, who defeated Trick Williams to win the United States Championship.

Although it was a loss for Williams, it is likely a positive thing for his career because he may be moving onto something bigger.

WWE Money in the Bank is coming up in a couple of months, and despite Roman Reigns being confirmed for the event, it’s Williams – along with Sol Ruca, IYO SKY and Penta – showcased on the event poster.

Now that he no longer has the US Title, there is a very good chance that Williams is the man who wins the Money in the Bank ladder match, and within the next year, becomes a world champion.

6. Ads Are More Important Than Chad Gable’s Crowning Moment

One of the other title changes came when Chad Gable defeated Penta to win the Intercontinental Championship – after a decade, Gable finally earns his first WWE singles title.

In an emotional post-match moment, Gable was joined by his family in the ring as he thanked his hometown of Minneapolis.

However, the moment was interrupted when Gable shuffled his family aside so a mascot for a sponsor could hand him two cans of root beer for him to drink in the middle of the ring, while the mascot cheered him on as if he was part of the moment.

This has been a problem with TKO for a long time now, and instead of getting better, it looks like it’s getting worse.

5. WWE Finally Rewards Chelsea Green

Another feel-good championship crowning moment came when Chelsea Green won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship ladder match.

While this is something of a second place prize and there’s almost zero chance Green will continue as champion when Rhea Ripley returns, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a nice moment for her and a reward for the entertainment value she’s provided in an undercard position for the past few years.

Her husband Matt Cardona had a similar moment when he won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania in 2016 and only held it for a day.

It was still a memorable moment that he cherishes, and Green got her parallel tonight.

4. WWE Is Not Slowing Down With Danhausen

Danhausen has largely been a massive hit since his WWE arrival, but it’s not like there haven’t been any misses throughout his run.

One of those misses came on Raw when the Danhausen and Joe Hendry concert was a complete dud.

The failure of that night wasn’t enough to deter WWE from having Danhausen defeat AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio tonight – albeit with the help of Hendry and the Minihausens, particularly Toritohausen who impressed once again after his initial outing at Backlash in May.

Hopefully this is the end of Danhausen getting the better of Mysterio, because TripleMania isn’t far away and The Undertaker & Jeremy Borash are trying to book a huge main event between Mysterio and El Grande Americano, which isn’t helped by Mysterio being made to look like a complete putz on the main roster.

3. CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens Is Coming Soon

Kevin Owens made his big return to kick off WWE SummerSlam night two, and he became the number one contender to CM Punk in the process.

Owens joined the Undisputed WWE Title #1 contender’s match with along with Finn Balor, Sami Zayn and GUNTHER, with Owens pinning Zayn to score the win.

We don’t yet know when and where Punk vs Owens will take place, but it’s a match that fans have been hoping for ever since Punk’s WWE return in 2023.

It seemed like it might have been the one that got away after Owens’ broken neck last year, but now that he’s back, it feels even more special.

2. Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins Are Finished… Or Are They?

The closing shot of SummerSlam was Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins embracing and sharing a Shield fist bump after their World Heavyweight Championship match that was won by Reigns.

This appears to signify that their rivalry is over… but have we really seen the end of their relationship?

Now that they seem to be back on good terms, it opens up the possibility of them teaming together in some kind of superteam for this year’s WarGames match at the WWE Survivor Series event in November.

There isn’t really a clear direction for WarGames yet so this might not end up being the case, but it certainly appears that they are on good terms and would be willing to team up in the future.

1. Triple H’s Bizarre Takeaway From SummerSlam Weekend

Triple H was back on the WWE SummerSlam post-shows, and had some pretty baffling comments to make on night two.

With the entire event having concluded, HHH was asked by Cathy Kelley who had the most career altering weekend at SummerSlam.

This seemed like a lay-up for Triple H to put over Oba Femi and his win against Brock Lesnar on night one, but that is not what he did.

Instead, Triple H’s praise went to Danhausen and Baron Corbin – a bizarre answer and one that greatly showcases the issues WWE has with its current direction.
