Sheamus Breaks Silence Following WWE Departure

Former WWE Champion Sheamus has broken his silence about his departure from the company, sharing his first post following his exit.

Sheamus – who hasn’t wrestled since November – is no longer with WWE, with the company moving his profile to the Alumni section of the roster page on July 6.

This came after reports that Sheamus was set to leave WWE once his contract expired.

The Irish star has now taken to Twitter for the first time since July 2 to share a message for his now-former colleages.

Sheamus wrote:

“slán mo WWE chairde” translates to “goodbye my WWE friends”, with the former world champion sharing a farewell message.

With Sheamus WWE exit, this means his final match with the company was actually John Cena’s last-ever Raw match. He, Cena and Rey Mysterio defeated Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh on the November 17, 2025 episode.

With Sheamus recovering from an injury during his hiatus, he had teased that he was preparing for an in-ring return, sharing training photos following a Performance Center visit on June 4.

The Irish star revealed a graphic head wound six days later, which he suffered at the gym.

In his latest health update, Sheamus revealed that he had returned to training at Swiftkick MMA & Boxing gym, ahead of his WWE departure.

Having been a mainstay in WWE for nearly 20 years, it will be interesting to see what the former WWE Champion does next.

While a recent report indicated that some within AEW were questioning the idea of Sheamus potentially joining the company, Jim Ross has since expressed interest in having the now-former WWE star in AEW.
